10 years

I had my 10 year class reunion this past weekend in Warren. It was actually a very nice event and it was really fun to see people that I haven't seen or talked to in years! A lot of people live in the Pgh area and its weird how I never see them. Its really hard when you have busy lives and you just sort of fall apart. Not in a bad way - just sort of drift off in different directions. It was fun to talk about old times and laugh how some people never change or how some people really change! I just can't believe its been 10 years since high school. I was surprised by how many classmates had children.. lots of children. And for the most part everyone seemed genuinely happy.

I went to the doctor today and gained no weight! Yippee. The doctor did make a comment about how she thinks I am going to have a big baby. Grrrreat. This she tells me after I had watched the epidural video at "Preparing for Childbirth" last night and had officially decided that I would try to go natural. Tonight I meet w/ the Anesthesiologist to hopefully get the straight story about the epidural.

One down, three to go!

Congrats Kameico!! My friend Kameico had her baby boy this past weekend. On July 5, 2008 at 2:20am she gave birth to Jaleel Champ Wright. He was 4 lbs 14 oz and 17 3/4 inches long. I got to hold him on Monday and he was SO SO SO tiny! Kameico was due July 29th so this made me realize that these little guys come when they want to. Kind of put things in perspective. Baby and mom were very healthy and should be at home resting. Holding that wee little one made me want to hold my own little baby. Soon enough!

Officially Scarred... and Scared

Craig and I attended our first "Preparing for Childbirth" class. I really like the instructor and overall the information was interesting. Then there was the birth video. I wonder if this video could be a prerequisite for teenagers.. anyone really... even remotely thinking about having a baby or taking the chance to get pregnant. I've watched "The Baby Story" and I've seen the anguished mother's faces, but trust me - this video puts it all to shame. I know the end result is amazing and well worth it, but holy crap! And no one tells you that you basically give birth twice - once to an adorable baby (after is all cleaned up) and then to the awful placenta! That thing looked as big if not bigger than the baby in the video. I'm officially scarred.... and scared!

I will have to say the 30 min of back massages from my husband was worth the torture of the video! I'm going to relish that part of the class every week.

Enjoying Summer in the Burgh

Craig and I took our dinner down to the Point Sunday night and sat by the fountain watching the boats, the incline, the people, and the weather. It was wonderful. I love living in the city.
I forgot to mention as well that I've reached the 7 month mark and no more bragging. I gained 7 lbs so now I am up to 10 lbs. YIKES! The person who weighed me at the doctor's office had to do it twice because she couldn't believe it. That made me feel real good.

Hot with a side of humidity!

Wow - its summer! Craig and I do not have central air in our old victorian and honestly if we did have it - I'm not so sure it would be able to cool the place down. There is just much house that goes up. We have 5 window units and when all 5 are on it cools the place down pretty good. It doesn't feel like an ice box, but it takes the moisture out of the air and definitely feels better than the sweltering madness outside. These past couple of days have been killer. 94 degrees is okay, but add 100% humidity to that and you feel like stabbing yourself in the eye with a pencil. Then lets remember that Greta is pregnant and going to be pregnant ALL summer long. I'm sure when I am my largest in August I'll be praying for relief.

I love da burgh!

I live in Pittsburgh and all too often I think I take it for granted. We got a lot of good things going on around here and most things I don't take enough advantage of. One of my favorite things to do on a Saturday morning is walk to "The Strip" were you can buy all of your produce, meats, cheeses, fresh hot homemade tortillas, and so much more. This picture if of Iris, my beautiful neice, trying on sombreros in the Mexican store. I know there is so much I have yet to explore in this city, but I just wanted to give a shout out to Pittsburgh. I think most people put the burgh down for it being small, landlocked, old, boring, etc. But there are not many places out there where you can still afford to buy a house.. where you have the best sports teams around and fans... where you can find culture, history, and fun. I'm not an official 'yinzer yet, but I love me some Pgh. Come visit!
